Welcome to my first blog post. Right off the bat we are about to get really personal, so, hello! I wanted to share my skincare journey for the ladies and gentlemen who are out there just beginning theirs or have been on theirs but aren’t seeing the progress they think they deserve. I want them to know we all have it in us to have smoother, clearer skin and I am going to show you where I started and where I am now, as well as the steps I took to get here.
Let’s dive in.
This is my skin in 2016 when I thought makeup was solving all of my problems. I would cover up my acne and go about my day, even normal tasks like grocery shopping required some type of makeup routine. I used skin smoothing apps (thanks Facetune) and was not even concerned about a skin care routine. It was all about the makeup and how I appeared online.
Ironically, this was also the time when I was being recognized for my makeup skills and actually began my journey as a self-taught makeup artist. Fast forward to 2018 and I’m two years into making women and myself flawless with cosmetic products, while my skin got worse and worse. By 2018, I had my worse acne outbreak of all time. It extended into 2019, by then I stopped wearing makeup because it was no longer masking the problem underneath, it was then that I realized I even had a “problem”.
I did what anyone would do after fighting a losing battle, spending money on skincare that didn’t work, and hours on YouTube trying to find other people’s methods that helped them. I found a local esthetician who catered to black skin.
Here are pics of some of my worst moments.
This picture was taken from a video during one of my MANY treatments with her during the course of October 2018-2019. I consider this one of my worse phases of my acne flare, I had NEVER had breakouts and scarring as bad as did during those two years. With Alicia Dion’s help I was introduced to chemical peels, enzyme peels, dermaplaning, microdermabrasion, and a host of other treatments. During the course of this year I experienced some improvement.
This was the best it had gotten in a year and I was impressed, but not finished! You get greedy when you see results.
My Skin Is Better Now What?
I figured there wouldn’t be much more improving the outer appearance using products, so I finally switched to what was going in my body. What they say is true ladies and gentlemen; eat your veggies, intake more water, when you think it’s too much add more, and guys here’s the main part that cleared my skin...a good ole liver detox cleanse. I’m not even talking an expensive $30 2 week supply of detox pills, mind you I’m also on a debt free journey so budgeting is my middle name. I’m talking about a $13 30 day supply of gentle liver detoxing.
Liver Detox Benefits
A liver detox is the MOST POWERFUL tool you can use to start or increase your progress during a skincare journey. You’d be surprised at how hard your liver has to work (this risking back ups when it’s poor functioning, kind of like a toilet 🥴). You must keep this golden organ (and all organs) clean and high functioning in order to experience optimal health! Not only does your liver aid in clearing acne, it cleanses the bloodstream, helps promote weight loss by clearing toxins, waste, and pathogens. The liver plays a key role in digestive enzyme production and energy metabolism and is the main fat burning organ.
You read that right, not only will your skin bounce toward optimal health, but liver cleansing can help you burn stubborn fat, thus kickstarting a whole slew of healthy benefits. If you haven’t already figured out what to do about your skin, I highly suggest you grab a bottle or two and see what this amazing cleanse can do for your body.
I would absolutely love to see what a liver cleanse does for your skin and body. I personally lost 10 pounds by taking these pills, eating better using a 80/20 plan, drinking at least 3-4 16.9oz bottles of water daily. I now live by a very simple skincare routine and RARELY get a pimple, not even during “that time of the month”. I use Urban Skin RX 3-in-1 Even Tone Cleansing bar, Urban Skin RX Dark Spot Rapid Repair Retinol Treatment, and King Ari Cosmetics Beauty Butter to moisturize.
More Quick Tips
Always incorporate sunscreen in your skincare routine, I will pen a blog on this soon with spring around the corner. Wash your entire pillow, not just the cases, at least once a month or every other month it makes a huge difference and they’ll be like new. Use clean hands when handling your skin, stop picking at new pimples. Tea tree oil is an amazing natural anti microbial spot treatment for those new pop ups. And most important, be PATIENT it took me two years to find this key lifestyle, while I’m hoping this blog brings you there in 30-60 days.
I never thought I would see the day when I could show off MY skin, let alone write a blog about it that could impact the next person. Here is my skin today and I am still not finished!
Take a look at where I started to where I am now and I’m sure you will find inspiration to begin or improve your own skincare journey.
You can find my skincare products at King Ari Cosmetics online retail shop.
